Typhoon Hagupit Tears Across The Philippines

Typhoon Hagupit, known locally as Ruby, fortunately weakened from a Category 5 to a Category 2 as it made landfall in the Philippines this weekend.

 

CARE, one of the world's largest humanitarian organizations, is on the ground helping Filipinos just as they did after last year's Typhoon Haiyan. Fortunately the damage and death toll of Hagupit paled in comparison to Haiyan's deadly force.

 

The island of Samar was the worst impacted by Hagupit.Many of the hillsides were splattered with down coconut and banana trees, which could impact people's livelihoods
